Redbud entertainment brings out best in Texas music
The 38th annual Redbud Festival on Saturday, March 13 will bring a day full of activities celebrating “Down on the Redbud Farm,” including fabulous Texas music to liven up the main stage.
SLOW ROLLIN LOWS
MAIN STAGE 3-5 p.m.
Featured performers on the day include local favorite Slow Rollin Lows, who found out on Monday that one of their songs has been nominated as song of the year by the Academy of Country Music.
The Slow Rollin Lows - Calvin “Pug” Johnson, Jeremy Porter and Mike Reilly - hail from Fannett, and the band pays homage to the legends of Texas Music and their own outlaw roots.
Citing inspiration from Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Jerry Jeff Walker, Johnny Cash, Pat Green, Lynyrd Skynyrd and even Led Zeppelin and ACDC, the band is well known on the live local music scene.
LOST IMMIGRANTS
MAIN STAGE 1-2:30 p.m.
Also on the main stage will be Lost Immigrants, a tradition of music rooted in heritage and home, honesty and hurt, sorrow and sunsets, playing country and rock.
The band - James Dunning, Sean Isbell, Michael Scudiero and Robert Anderson - cite a wide ranging number of influences, from Johnny Cash to John Mellencamp to Counting Crows and the Dave Matthews Band.
While touring in support of their album in 2006, they discovered Texas music, recording “Live in the Hill Country” at Gruene Hall and in Luckenbach.
JAMIE TALBERT
MAIN STAGE 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Kicking off the main stage is a face familiar from last year’s rodeo, Beaumont-based Jamie Talbert, who has opened for Pat Green, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Don Williams and more.
Another live music scene favorite, he is known for his fun-loving songs while never compromising the honesty of the song.
All musical entertainment is free to the Festival crowd. |
