“Buna on the Bayou”
March 14, 2009
February 28- The Annual Buna Lions Club Beauty Pageant will be held at the Elementary Cafeteria at 5pm.
February 27- Annual Redbud 42 Tournament to be held at the Masonic Lodge. The tournament will begin at 6pm.
March 2nd – Buna Redbud Festival Office opens – Buna Chamber of Commerce located on Hwy 62 beside the Fire Department. Office hours are Monday – Friday March 2nd - March 12th 8AM – 5PM and March 10th 8-7. The Office will sell The Official 37th Annual Redbud T-shirts $12 sizes 2-4 to 3XL. They will also sell the tickets for Carnival wristbands. The wristbands are $14 each and can be purchased until Thursday, March 12th at 6PM. Each band can be used 1 day only. Wristbands at the gate will be $20.
March 2 – The Redbud treasure hunt will begin at 9AM. Each hint will be available at Custom Creations. Hints are $1.00. A $100 Redbud Festival Goodie Bag will be awarded to the winner.
March 6- Parade Entry forms are due in to the Redbud office by 5:00pm.
March 8- Annual Redbud Community Service will be held at Central Baptist Church at 6pm.
March 12 – Wagner’s Carnival opens at the Buna High School Grounds. The carnival will open at 6PM on Thursday and Friday night and run all day on Saturday. Pre-sale wristbands are available at the Redbud office until 6PM on Thursday March 6th for $14. Wristbands may also be purchased at the ticket booths for $20. Single tickets will also be available at the gate.
March 13 – Parade line-up will be posted at the Redbud Office, The Buna Beacon, Kaine’s Supermarket and Community Bank and Trust.
March 13 – Free to the public Red Beans and Rice hosted by Genesis Baptist Church– At the lot beside the Buna Post Office from 11-2PM
March 13 – Buna Bridle Club presents the annual Redbud Rodeo. Rodeo events will be held on Friday and Saturday night at 8 PM at the Buna Bridle Club.
March 14th - Festival day events
8:00 AM Parade floats should be in line for judging.
9:00 AM All Parade entries will be lined up on Hwy 96N.
10 AM Redbud Festival Parade led by Parade Marshal Dana Melancon will line up on Hwy 96 to flow down Main Street, Hwy 62 ,to the Buna High School Grounds. The 37th annual Redbud Festival will start immediately following the parade. Nearly 100 craft vendors and over 25 food vendors serving all the festival favorites will be open all day. Also the front campus will be filled with Children’s Activities for all ages. The Buna Elementary school art contest will be on display in the Old Elementary gym foyer.
11:00 AM Shon Branham will take the front stage for the opening of entertainment.
11:00 AM The Texas Thunder Band will take the stage for the opening of
entertainment on the main stage.
11:45 AM Announcement of the Redbud Festival Parade Winners – Main Stage
12:00 noon Jackie Caillier and the Cajun Cousins will take the Main Stage for a bayou style hometown concert.
12:30 PM Toni Harrison , Silsbee will perform on the front stage
1:00 PM Local Rhonda Boyd will perform on the front stage.
1:30 PM Shon Branham will perform on the front stage
1:45 PM Bretton Low will perform on the front stage
2:00PM Texas Thunder will return on the main stage and Kristina Kondos will perform on the front stage.
2:30 PM Bretton Low will perform on the front stage
3:00 PM Shon Branham will perform on the front stage
4:00 PM Drawing for “Castles for CASA” will take place on main stage.
7PM The 2009 Miss Buna and Little Miss Fireman pageants will be held at the Buna High School Activity Center. Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door.
8PM The continuation of the Redbud Rodeo will be held at the Buna Bridle Club. Queen’s Pageant Winners will be announced and finals will be held. Gates open at 6pm. |
